Founded in Shanghai in 2012，atelier mearc is committed to delivering innovative and creative results in both architectural and interior design. The practice is grounded in close observation of everyday life, exploring the relationship between human behavior and spatial experience as a point of departure. atelier mearc seeks to reveal the intrinsic value of each project, encourages research-driven exploration in the early design stages, and emphasizes the practical application of local construction techniques. The office collaborates closely with professional consultants to ensure technical rigor and economic feasibility.

Principal architect Wei Zhou is a Class 1 Registered Architect in China and a Chartered Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). He is a committee member of the Architectural Society of Shanghai, a visiting tutor at Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, and an external mentor at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University.

Over the past fourteen years, atelier mearc has completed a diverse range of built projects that have been widely published, exhibited, and recognized by leading design media and institutions, and has received multiple authoritative awards in China and internationally.
