JCD Residence
São Paulo, Brazil
2024

Located in São Paulo, this 520 m² residence is developed across three levels and explores a contemporary architectural language defined by the articulation of volumes, proportion, and the controlled relationship between openings and solid surfaces.
The project is structured around a clear occupation strategy, establishing a precise connection between the building and its site.

Although the existing vegetation does not determine the architectural concept, the presence of the trees along the facade becomes an important element in the perception of the house. Their trunks and canopies frame the architecture, creating a dialogue between natural elements and the built environment while adding depth and visual richness to the street perspective.
The composition of the facade is guided by a distinction between the different levels of the residence. The upper floor emerges as a lighter and more dynamic volume, enclosed by a system of vertical brises that introduces rhythm, texture, and movement to the elevation.

Beyond its visual role, this element provides solar control and privacy, reinforcing the identity of the project. The use of brown tones in this upper volume enhances its autonomy, creating a clear contrast with the remaining structure. The lower floors are conceived as a more robust and continuous base, supporting the lighter upper element and strengthening the horizontal character of the residence.
This contrast between weight and lightness, enclosure and openness, establishes a balanced architectural composition where each volume contributes to the overall reading of the house.
The result is a residence with a refined and timeless expression, where material choices, geometric clarity, and careful detailing create a harmonious relationship between architecture and its surroundings.
The project seeks balance between presence and integration, combining a strong built identity with the natural characteristics of the site. Lead Architects: André Leite and Bruna Ximenes Project Team: Beatriz Rodrigues, Bianca Rodrigues, Bruno Camargo, Jéssica Oliveira and Lucas Salina
