Among the many branches of Juno Hair that have operated since the 1980s, the most important objective established for the renewal project of the Yangjae No.1 Branch was to create a practical and comfortable environment by refining the functions and structure of the space. Over time, the existing store had undergone numerous partial renovations, resulting in complicated circulation paths and unclear spatial divisions.

A key consideration of the renewal project was to communicate the brand more clearly to customers while establishing a renewed image. The theme of this project is “Refine the Functions and Areas of Space.” The first objective was to create an environment with differentiated spatial density through the replacement of aging facilities and the reorganization of underutilized spaces. The second objective was to establish a clean and cohesive image through modular materials consistently applied from the exterior to the interior. This approach reflects both the enduring solidity of a brand that has grown into one of the largest companies in the Korean beauty industry over many decades, and the brand’s strong organizational system expressed spatially through clusters of modules.

The spatial strategy focused on creating a transitional experience between the exterior and interior. The entrance, where customers first enter the space, was designed with a narrow width and low lighting levels so that it functions as a transitional zone between outside and inside. After passing through the narrow stairway corridor, customers arrive at the second-floor salon and encounter an open, expansive space, creating a visual effect that makes the interior feel larger and more spacious. Through this sequence, customers experience a refreshed image distinct from the previous environment, while also gaining a sense of psychological comfort and stability.

In addition, a consistent and subdued tone of finishing materials was used to ensure that the background would not stand out in a space where a wide variety of colors naturally coexist. The project was based on the premise that the customers using the space should become the protagonists shining vividly and brightly within the environment. Accordingly, the design was shaped with a refined and calm atmosphere, allowing the space itself to serve as a subtle background that enhances its users.
