The client desired a home that reconnects them with their roots and family after living away from their hometown for nearly two decades. They envisioned a residential interior that feels calm, cosy, spacious and functional. With a design language that balances subtle luxury with everyday practicality. The brief emphasized efficient space utilization, multi-functional spaces, and seamless circulation while maintaining a refined and timeless aesthetic. Maximum daylight, cross ventilation, integrated utilities, and warm materiality and breathability were the key requirements to support client’s contemporary urban living. Designed for a three-generation family, the home needed to accommodate activities like social gatherings, relaxations, studying and worshiping while ensuring utmost privacy. Ease of maintenance, durability, and comfort were the core priorities.
Rooted in the philosophy of “less is more,” the concept envisions continuous circulation where spaces are experienced as adaptable volumes rather than enclosed rooms. Visual openness is achieved through minimal spatial divisions, material continuity, and layered lighting, enhancing the perceived scale of the apartment. Furniture and storage are seamlessly integrated into the spatial planning, allowing functions to remain discreet and uncluttered. Warm textures combined with a restrained minimalist palette create an inviting yet refined atmosphere. Sustainability is subtly embedded through the use of long-life materials, energy-efficient lighting, and low-maintenance finishes, ensuring the home remains relevant, responsible and timeless.
The design process began with a detailed understanding of the client’s lifestyle, generational needs, and spatial constraints. Zoning was carefully developed to maintain openness in public areas while ensuring privacy in personal spaces. Furniture layouts and integrated storage systems guided planning to achieve multi-functionality and efficient material usage. Spatial clarity, breathability, and timelessness remained central to the design approach. Material selection focused on durability, comfort, and child-friendly finishes. A layered lighting strategy was employed to enhance mood, functionality, and energy efficiency. Customized lighting fixtures, bespoke handles, and copper accents were thoughtfully introduced to complement the material palette. Custom artworks were designed to reflect the client’s personality, aspirations and inspirations were adding a personal narrative to the space.
