Casa Boutique – Architecture Resting on the Landscape
Set on a site in Brasília, Casa Boutique emerges from the challenge of housing two generations under a single architectural gesture. The project is organized as a continuous, unified volume that unfolds into two distinct wings, each providing autonomy and privacy for a family nucleus. Between them rises an elevated central block, defined by a thin, extensively horizontal slab that houses the kitchen, living and dining areas. This is where daily life unfolds — the spatial core that concentrates the family’s everyday rituals of gathering.
The architecture opens fully to its surroundings. Generous glass planes connect the interior spaces to the lateral gardens that encircle the house, giving the impression that the vegetation permeates every environment. To ensure this porosity, the design incorporates wide setbacks and a continuous pergola that wraps the perimeter. Covered in vegetation, this element filters light, protects the residents’ privacy, and dissolves the boundaries between inside and out.
A cast-in-place concrete slab spans the lateral volumes, unifying the ensemble. Precise yet lightweight, the architecture appears to gently land on the site, respecting native species and adapting to the existing landscape. Inside, strategically positioned skylights provide natural lighting and ventilation, reinforcing the luminous, fluid atmosphere that defines the house.
The material palette prioritizes refined textures such as wood, natural stone, and raw concrete, creating an ambience that balances rusticity with sophistication. Everything is in dialogue with the garden, which extends into the interiors like a living frame. The architectural concept draws explicitly from the materiality and atmosphere of the boutique hotels the family frequents during their travels — an essential and much-enjoyed part of their lifestyle. From this inspiration comes not only the name, Casa Boutique, but the project’s entire conceptual identity, structured around principles typical of such accommodations: reduced scale, meticulous detailing, and curated materiality. The selection of materials, textures and lighting strategies was guided by the intention to recreate the intimate and sophisticated ambiance of these establishments, ensuring a domestic experience defined by comfort and identity.
With an organic design, the pool follows the natural contour lines of the terrain and includes a spa area. Its sinuous form establishes a direct dialogue with the gourmet pavilion, which appears to float above the water. Access is provided by a light walkway that also rests over the reflecting pool. The pavilion’s roof combines glass with internal layers of natural bamboo, ensuring thermal comfort and a softly filtered light.
Seen from above, the residence reveals itself as a composition that truly belongs to its site: architecture, water, and landscape interwoven in balance.
Casa Boutique is, above all, an exercise in harmonious coexistence — between families, between volumes, and between the built and the natural. A house that welcomes, embraces, and rests gently upon the landscape.
