House Rinconada
Malinalco, Mexico
2023

Set within a privileged natural setting, Casa Rinconada was born from the desire to establish a subtle dialogue between architecture, landscape, and dwelling. Conceived on a single level, the project embraces horizontality as a strategy to blend with the topography and surrounding garden.

The composition is defined by a series of stone volumes arranged linearly and articulated by walls of constant height that emphasize spatial and structural continuity. Above them, horizontal planes of exposed concrete act as floating roofs, casting deep shadows and framing views of the landscape. This tectonic gesture unifies the whole, while the voids between volumes allow for controlled natural light and ventilation.

The construction system combines volcanic stone masonry with cast-in-place concrete both low-maintenance materials with deep local roots. The material palette harmonizes with the native vegetation, reinforcing a sense of permanence and calm.

The landscaping is conceived as a natural extension of the countryside. The selected species, primarily wild plants and shallow water features, support biodiversity, reduce water consumption, and introduce seasonal dynamism to the overall composition.

The house does not impose itself on the land, it rests gently upon it.
