Yucatan is famous among many things for the henequen Haciendas. The industry colapsed with the invention of plastic, leading to many haciendas to be abandoned.
The project established new functions for the old construction, saving all the original elements and combining them with contemporary uses and elements. The site is located in 160 HA of jungle, so the design contemplated a progressive environmental process to take the house to bet zero through the years.
The result is a theatric experience of and past glamour with the commodities of contemporary living. Bokobá was designed based on the idea of passive architecture of the old haciendas. The concept of sustainability was essential because it was sought that this house be friendly to the environment and its surroundings.
