The Hygge Café pavilion renovation focuses on maximizing the existing structure while introducing new materials to give it a refreshed identity. Its circular form—the pavilion’s defining feature—is highlighted through marble tilework wrapping around the exterior, creating a clean, continuous presence within its urban context. The circular layout also offers practical benefits, allowing visitors inside to enjoy unobstructed 360-degree views of the surroundings, establishing the pavilion as a modest yet recognizable landmark.
Inside, the original radial steel structure is left exposed, emphasizing the building’s construction and reinforcing its geometric rhythm. Repurposed wood planks, typically used for concrete formwork, clad the interior walls, adding warmth and familiarity that balance the cooler tones of marble and steel. Complementing these materials, acid glass defines the bar area while reflecting light to subtly animate the space. Overall, the renovation blends old and new, creating a functional, inviting pavilion with a distinct architectural character.
