Structural Botany
2026

“Structural Botany” is a series that extracts geometric vocabularies from the diverse characteristics of plants, reinter preting them through artificial structures and modular components. It explores the blurred intersection between natural forms and human-made construction.

No. 26MY-804-47 grows in the Pier-2 Art Center along the coastline of the Kaohsiung Harbor.

The plants are erect and clustering, reaching a height of approximately 2.3 to 4.6 meters. The population is equidistant ly arranged, exhibiting distinct colonial characteristics.

Each stem is solitary, upright, and quadrangular with a smooth surface. Its primary color is brown, featuring a promine nt longitudinal white stripe down the center, with occasional branching at the upper section and several circular, raised nodes of varying sizes visible at the base.

The leaves are opposite, with two leaves per stem, borne at the apex of the stem or at the tips of the branches in a stag gered, slightly tilted arrangement. The circular blades are upward-curved, thin, and slightly translucent, measuring app roximately 2 meters in diameter and arranging into a stratified canopy structure.
