The program is designed for a family who lived in an apartment in Buenos Aires and decided to move to Córdoba during the pandemic.
The plot is located on the outskirts of the city, in a gated community to the southwest. It has a surface area of 1500 m², a slight downward slope, and a north-facing frontage.
The house is conceived with a clear functional layout expressed through its volumetric composition. It consists of three blocks — service, social, and private — arranged in a “U” shape that embraces a central courtyard, which also serves as the main entrance.
This layout allows for an appropriate relationship between function and orientation for each of the spaces.
The bedroom block faces east, receiving the morning sun; the service block faces west; and the social area opens to both the front and rear of the house.
This social space — living room, dining room, and kitchen — connects to the north through a double-height window overlooking the entrance courtyard, maximizing sunlight. To the south, it is fully integrated with the gallery.
Having a strong and direct connection to the outdoors and to greenery is part of our culture, and therefore always a key principle in our projects.
We place great emphasis on these transitional spaces (galleries), which are shaded, cool areas where the boundaries between interior and exterior blur and the inside and outside begin to flow together.A recurring theme in our work is the concept of the threshold, understood as the transition — the passage from one place to another.
In this project, we extend the threshold of the main entrance by creating a promenade that defines the boundary between public and private, inviting reflection and presence.
In the pursuit of continuous and fluid spatiality, we considered the experience of the approach to the house, where we also incorporated water as a symbolic and vital element.
The aim is for the act of entering to represent a conscious process, assigning a special moment to both arrivals and departures — events we consider meaningful in the experience of dwelling.
