SUSA is an architecture practice that merges rigorous contextual research with material experimentation and fabrication, grounding design in social, cultural, and ecological conditions. With roots in Malmö, Baghdad, and Toronto, the studio approaches architecture through hybridity as a working method, layering histories, materials, and technologies to produce new spatial futures.

Working across exhibitions, publications, and public art, SUSA develops context-driven projects through iterative, research-led processes, seeking adaptive and meaningful responses to the environments and communities they engage.

Founded by Swedish-Iraqi-Canadian architects Sara Ibrahim and Suzan Ibrahim, whose experience spans BIG, OMA, Adjaye Associates, and Lina Ghotmeh – Architecture, the practice is also shaped through teaching at University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, and the Architectural Association School of Architecture. Their work is grounded in collaboration, care, and a shared commitment to collective authorship.
