Studio Tngtetshiu is an architectural practice founded in rural southern Taiwan in 2016. Established after its founders returned from years of living and working in London and Taipei, the studio is located in Tngtetshiu, the former name of the village where it is based, surrounded by agricultural landscapes, everyday structures, and layers of local history.
Rather than treating rural environments as a nostalgic image of tradition, Studio Tngtetshiu investigates the contemporary conditions of the countryside through architecture, research, and creative practice. The studio observes how buildings emerge through adaptation, necessity, material limitations, and the accumulation of time, exploring the relationships between vernacular intelligence and contemporary architectural thinking.
