Spaceworkers® is an award-winning architecture studio located in Paredes, northern Portugal, founded by current creative directors Henrique Marques and Rui Dinis and its financial director Carla Duarte. The studio bases its practice on the constant exploration and search for new paradigms of contemporary architecture, in order to achieve a close relationship between form and emotions. The studio's work, which spans various fields ranging from small projects, residential projects, hospitality, retail, public buildings, industry, urban space intervention, among others, reflects the pragmatic vision with which it faces challenges and the critical spirit with which it evaluates the surrounding context, appealing to the sensitivity of its clients for a new way of understanding and perceiving space in its sensory dimension.
Over the past few years, the studio has been nominated for several international awards, winning several of them, including the Building of the Year, promoted by the international website Archdaily, once in 2015 and again in 2017 in the houses category, being the only Portuguese studio to win the same award twice in the same category. The studio also won the A+ Awards promoted by the Architizer website, with a project for a private house. The studio was also awarded the Iconic Award 2017 - Architecture Winning by the German Design Council. Also in 2017, it was awarded Best Portuguese Studio of the Year by Construir magazine. In 2019, it was again distinguished with an Iconic Award, and also won the 2019 Architecture Masterprize with the project for the Interpretation Centre of the Romanesque Route. This project was also a finalist for Building of the Year 2020, and one of the winners of the Work of the Year 2020 award, as well as the Muse Design Award 2020, and the A Design Award 2020. At the end of 2020, it also won the TIDA2020 in the Public Space category.
