The Papundekl architects studio was founded in 2017 by Jan Bárta and Marek Fischer, graduates of Jan Šépka's studio at the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University.
Our work is characterized by an open approach, not limiting the imagination based on a set assignment or pre-understanding. For each project, we try to find a distinctive concept and a unique form. We are not afraid of playful or naive solutions, combining old and new ideas. We create designs that are rational and accessible, yet fresh. We like to explore unusual construction methods or interesting materials.
We design houses, urbanism and interiors. We currently have a 6-member team and we cooperate externally with a wider range of specialists. Since 2017, we have been working on the revitalization of the Prague Exhibition Grounds, where in 2020 a modular pavilion with refreshments was created according to our design, for which we received the award Finalist of the Czech Architecture Award 2021.
We regularly participate in architectural competitions. Our successes from recent years include: in 2020, 3rd place in the Southern Slopes competition in Frýdek-Místek, in 2021, a prize in the competition for the renewal of the park on Mírové náměstí in Hodonín and 2nd place in the invited competition for the revitalization of Smetana Gardens in Červený Kostelec, in 2022, a prize in the competition for the Fire Department of the Volunteer Fire Department in Lanškroun and in 2023, 1st place in the invited competition for the improvement of public spaces in Svatý Jan pod Skalou. In the private sector, we have implemented new buildings and reconstructions of family and apartment buildings, as well as a number of apartment interiors. We work for cities and municipalities throughout the Czech Republic. Our current clients include: the city of Červený Kostelec, where we are supervising the complete reconstruction of the city library, the city of Venátky, where we are supervising the reconstruction of the Kroh district house, and the municipality of Svatý Jan pod Skalou, where, following our victory in a competition, we are working on a public space project.
