Gabriel Verd , (Granada, 1975) is an architect from the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Seville (ETSAS), after his degree he continued training in the studio of Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra.
He was a visiting professor of Design at the Faculty of Architecture of Cagliari (Italy) (2009-2012) and a guest member of the Final Degree Project examination boards at the School of Architecture of Seville (2015-2017). In 2005, he taught in the Master's Program in Renewable Energies: Architecture and Urban Planning at the International University of Andalusia. In 2011, he joined the advisory board of the Seville College of Architects, and in 2014, he became a trustee of the Foundation for Contemporary Architecture .
He has given lectures in Paris, Melbourne, Venice, London, Ferrara, Vicenza, Bologna, Lucca, Concepción (Chile), Dakar…
He has participated in numerous national and international competitions, designing and constructing public buildings, residential buildings, schools, medical and scientific research facilities, etc. His projects have been published in national and international magazines (AV, 2G, Detail, Casabella, Domus, Area, TC,…).
He has received numerous awards such as: S. Arch Award 2018 in Venice, first prize in the “experience/futures” category (best work built by architects under 40 years old) in 2009 from the Higher Council of Architects of Spain, Fassa Bortolo International Prize for Sustainable Architecture 2009 (Ferrara), finalist in the Renzo Piano Foundation Prize for young talents 2010, Archi-Bau Prize 2009 (Munich), International Architecture Award 2007 by the Chicago Athenaeum, Finalist in the FAD awards 2009, SICE! prize 2008 and Innovation and Jury Prize of Cooper in Architecture 13 (London), among others.
Our goal is to propose an architecture capable of responding to complex programs at any scale. Nothing in our projects is left to chance; we strive, as far as possible, for simplicity (not simplistic design). We try to create buildings to be lived in, placing the user at the center and always as the result of profound functional, technical, and economic reflection, involving the various stakeholders in the development of the architecture within the framework of close dialogue with the developer, tradespeople, government agencies, and future users.
Our approach to bioclimatic or ecologically conscious architecture is not so much the result of applying special technologies as it is the maintenance of a logic directed towards the adaptation and positive use of environmental, cultural, economic, technological and social conditions.
Since 2015, Gabriel Verd Arquitectos and Buró4 have joined forces to share experiences, teams, and talents. This alliance allows for the accumulation of experience from both firms, providing them with valuable experience for this new chapter. Quality design, responsible urban planning, and a commitment to sustainability are the pillars upon which this partnership is built.
