Lava is molten geological material found beneath the Earth's surface that, when expelled from volcanic vents, permeates the space and covers the ground and all elements within its radius, remaining active for long periods and traveling great distances before solidifying. Lava thus becomes a layer covering inhabited space, transforming the place along with its structural and complementary elements.
Objectivity is replaced by the valorization of emptiness, earth, and the environment. Lava traverses space and relates to the landscape at its different scales. Time, a determining factor in its process, solidifies its characteristics until it becomes the soil itself, and everything becomes part of the same system. Studio Lava is an office dedicated to Architecture from a multi-scalar perspective, where Architecture becomes the design of the space inhabited by man and is inserted into the landscape, whether urban or natural. Inhabited space, or geographic space, is the result of the relationship between man and the environment in which he lives, between society and territory. We strive to work from a systemic understanding, relating the potential elements of the place and materializing concepts that strengthen the proposals.
Time is essential in the development of each project throughout its stages, and with the process and the journey as our main driving force, we increasingly solidify the foundations of the firm. We develop and build projects based on three areas of expertise, divided by scale: Territory, encompassing larger-scale projects, whether in urban, rural, or natural environments; Architecture, including construction and renovation projects in their various uses; Art, including scenography projects for artistic and musical performances and exhibition design.
