Founded in 2018, Drawing Works is an architecture-based design firm whose ultimate goal is to evoke nature by reinterpreting the faint traces derived from impressions of nature and the densely built urban environment. The firm is interested in various fields beyond architecture, including installation art, exhibitions, and public design, and flexibly executes projects through collaboration with various experts and designers as needed. It features a design-build system where design and production are closely linked.
Architecture, like art, is the process of translating creative and abstract thought into reality. However, unlike art, architecture must be accompanied by tangible results, so a significant gap often arises between the initial concept and its actual implementation. Consequently, in most architectural practice, 'concepts' are easily consumed or abandoned. Recognizing this reality, we focused on the fundamental fact that the starting point of architecture, just like art, originates from an idea. The attitude of pushing a concept to its very end is the core of our work, and we strive to ensure that the initial concept is consistently maintained throughout the interior design and indoor atmosphere.
Sustainable architecture is also a value we prioritize. This goes beyond simply using eco-friendly technologies; it encompasses a sense of responsibility as architects to shape the history and atmosphere of the village together. Even when building a single house, it requires an attitude that harmonizes with the surrounding context and considers its impact far into the future. Based on this sense of locality and responsibility, Drawing Works pursues architecture that coexists and shares with the surrounding environment. This is what we mean by sustainable architecture. The primary concern in each project is how to consistently maintain Drawingworks' unique identity. We take on challenges without losing our sense of direction, even amidst diverse clients, sites, and conditions, moving forward with an attitude that considers both the past and the future. As an architectural studio aiming for communication with nature and contribution to the public, Drawingworks will continue its journey toward "sustainable architecture."
