We are Sangyoung Ko and Youngsik Hyun, representatives of Space Design Studio DEEF.
Looking back, we seem to have felt the greatest sense of reward when we provided spaces that contained 'the client's unique story.' I would add that this is not merely a keyword, but a rich and unique narrative that only that space can possess. Of course, providing aesthetic and functional satisfaction should be considered fundamentally our own achievement.
We were drawn to abstract or indirect images, and we hoped that these images would appear to overlap as one experiences the space. We were convinced that if we designed by contemplating and connecting the entire process—from the moment of entry before witnessing the space, the moments of lingering, to the reflection upon leaving—a deep lingering resonance, resonance, and deep emotion would undoubtedly be created.
When summarizing the space we wanted to create—one that brings happiness just by imagining it—we could describe it as a space with a flow of 'introduction, development, climax, and conclusion.' At that moment, we established our brand identity as Direction guidance, Expending, Ending hint, and Finding, and created the company name DEEF by taking the first letter of each word. In fact, if you search for 'introduction, development, climax, and conclusion' in an English dictionary, a different sentence appears; however, by listing hundreds of words with the same meaning, we created a brand name that suits our atmosphere.
Meeting with various clients recently, I have come to realize that every person and every space is different. Thanks to this, I am delighted to think that there are so many stories left for us to write. Furthermore, because our design approach involves a strong immersion into their spaces, we form a deep bond and sense of solidarity with our clients, which brings us great joy.
Since there is no single right answer in design, we love these spaces and will continue to create them consistently. We would like to convey our desire to build a deeper connection with our clients. Moving forward, we will humbly continue our work with sincere stories and captivating designs.
